Knowing the exact pace you need lets you check during a race whether you are on track, rather than discovering at the finish that you drifted. Notice that a two-hour half and a four-hour marathon share almost the same pace — the marathon is simply holding it twice as long, which is what makes it hard.
Miles and kilometres
