Laboratory results are reported in conventional mass units (e.g. mg/dL) or SI molar units (e.g. mmol/L). Converting a simple analyte multiplies by a factor derived from its molar mass; some tests use a defined equation instead.

Conventional units (like mg/dL) are mass-based and common in the United States; SI units (like mmol/L) are molar and used in most of the world. Both describe the same quantity — one counts by weight, the other by number of molecules — so the same sample yields different numbers in each system.
No. It converts units only and deliberately carries no reference ranges. Normal ranges vary by lab, method, age, sex and clinical context, and interpreting a value is a job for a qualified healthcare professional. Use this only to translate a number from one unit to another.
By the factor 0.0555, which is 10 divided by glucose’s molar mass of about 180.16 g/mol (the 10 accounts for the dL-to-L change). So mmol/L = mg/dL × 0.0555, and mg/dL = mmol/L ÷ 0.0555. 100 mg/dL equals 5.55 mmol/L.
HbA1c is reported either as a percentage (NGSP) or in mmol/mol (IFCC), and the two relate through a defined master equation rather than a molar mass: IFCC = (NGSP% − 2.15) × 10.929. This tool applies that equation, so 7% converts to about 53 mmol/mol.
BUN (blood urea nitrogen) measures only the nitrogen portion, while urea measures the whole molecule. They differ by a factor of about 2.14 (urea = BUN × 2.14). This tool lists them separately with their own conversion factors so you convert whichever your report uses.
